AFAC Foundation is a tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Delaware. Our purpose is to honor and support our Heroes both past and present. We have two projects to fulfill our mission:

Honor My Hero is a project of AFAC Foundation. We believe there are countless examples of genuine Heroism surrounding us each day. We aim to make these examples explicit for all to see, learn from and emulate.  We especially seek to provide our young people with real close-in role models of Heroism. In so doing, we hope to help them realize the potential Hero within themselves.

Honor My Hero is a website that lists tributes to real, everyday Heroes which have been submitted by people who love and admire them. These are stories of people who have demonstrated great acts of courage when duty called, but also of people who have changed their piece of the world by countless small acts of love and devotion. These are the stories of what is best in humanity. Family and friends of each Hero may add their own comment to further honor the Hero. Read them and they will warm and inspire you. Our point is that Heroes are not "out there" but they are very often very close by. Take a moment then to share your tribute to your Hero.

Finally Honor My Hero seeks to help our Heroes in real ways. The site lists "resources" that focus on the needs of various Hero groups. Viewers of the site my suggest other resources as well. We hope to that this clearing house of information will be useful to those who give so much to us all.

The Heroes Fund is the means by which we provide tangible help to our Heroes. We try to identify organizations that advance the case of a particular group of Heroes in meaningful ways such as:

·
by providing services directly to them
·
by helping to educate the public about them
·
by memorializing or honoring them

All selected charities  are themselves tax-exempt, non-profit organizations within the meaning of IRS Code Section 501 (c) (3) and, as best as the AFAC Foundation Board can determine, are recognized as legitimate, well run organizations with reputations for efficient use of funds.

AFAC Foundation strives to identify charities that are, in the opinion of our Board of Directors, compelling and yet mainstream to the American public. We seek to avoid charitable groups that are controversial, divisive, and discriminatory. We also avoid groups that are primarily religious or political in nature.

To date we have donated to many such groups. See Donations to Date on this site.

AFAC Foundation receives its funding primarily through corporate sponsors and i
ndividual contributors. Funds collected are allocated into three primary uses:

Use   Purpose  Allocation
(Approximate)
Invested Funds  To produce earnings as a source of sustainable support for our selected charities. The Board will determine how earnings from these funds are to be distributed to our charities but the intention is that at least 75% of earnings will be disbursed to charities each year.  75%
Immediate Charity Disbursements  Donations made to selected charity groups within the AFAC Foundation fiscal year  15%
Administration  For fees, web services, phone, marketing. Corporate sponsors cover much of these costs. Any monies not needed here are allocated into the uses above.  10%

Note:that these allocation percentages are goals. The Board may change such use of funds as it deems necessary.
